Speakers announced for international emissions conference

altThe organisers of CEM 2014 have published the titles of the Conference presentations that will take place from 14th to 16th May at the Renaissance Polat Istanbul Hotel in Turkey. The selected presentations will be given by speakers from 13 different countries covering a wide variety of subjects within the event’s emissions monitoring theme.

New state-of-the-art Connect classroms celebrated at showcase event

CONNECT classrooms which transform schools needing to accommodate growing numbers of pupils have been celebrated at a showcase day.

ELSTOW School in Bedford showcased its new state-of-the-art Connect classrooms and hall to colleagues, dignitaries and the mayor of Bedford Borough at an open day.

In 2012, Bedford Borough Council received funding to build a new secondary school which meant that some schools, such as Elstow School, needed to accommodate more pupils as they converted to primary school status.

BIU Group supports Francis House Festival of Trees

altLeading textile recycling organisation BIU Group has continued a long standing partnership with Francis House Children’s Hospice by taking part in the charity’s annual Festival of Trees.

The Festival of Trees is a stunning display of Christmas trees that have been decorated by well known national and local organisations in and around the Greater Manchester region. Organisations taking part include Manchester United Football Club, John Lewis and the Coronation Street cast and crew. All the trees are auctioned off at the end of the Festival to raise vital funds for Francis House – last year the auction raised £25,000.

Blaenau Gwent Successfully Hosts the Low Carbon Built Environment Event

Blaenau Gwent has successfully hosted the Low Carbon Built Environment Event (LCBE) organised by Cardiff University.

The Low Carbon Built Environment project is part of the wider Low Carbon Research Institute (LCRI). The LCRI’s Convergence Energy Programme is supported by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government, works with enterprises to develop industry-relevant new technologies that will provide business opportunities and help Wales deliver on its low carbon agenda.

Mercury emissions monitor draws crowds in Edinburgh

altGasmet unveiled a new continuous mercury monitoring system (CMM) at Mercury 2013 in Edinburgh, Scotland, during the ‘International Conference on Mercury as a Global Pollutant’. Expressing his delight with the number of enquiries received, Gasmet Europe’s Antti Heikkilä said: “With delegates from over 50 countries, the conference was extremely well attended and our booth received a constant stream of enquiries throughout the week.

“We received requests for monitoring applications covering mercury emissions in coal and waste incineration, to emerging measurement requirements such as mercury in natural gas and other forthcoming regulatory driven applications.
