UKERC has been invited by the French National Research Agency to play a key role in an exciting new drive to establish a number of Institutes of Excellence in the low-carbon energy field.

A number of successful events have recently been held at The Works: Ebbw Vale to inform Blaenau Gwent’s communities about the ongoing progress and the exciting developments that are transforming the area.

Launched this month, the latest range of ACO Q-Ceptor bypass oil separators includes a number of new features that focus on cutting installation time and costs. Versatile inlet and outlet manifolds will now allow contractors to make quick connections without the need for any additional expensive coupling units and a new ductile iron cover and frame will provide a certified D400 Load Class rating.

World Toilet Day on 19th November reminds us that the world is seriously off-track to meet the sanitation MDG target – to halve the proportion of people without access to sanitation by 2015. If current rates of progress continue, the global sanitation goal will be met 30 years too late. In Sub-Saharan Africa, the sanitation target in that region is not due to be met for another 200 years. However, we also recognise the importance of water conservation during times of water scarcity, and in ensuring robust sanitation systems remain as economical as possible.
