With timber frame managers based in both England and Scotland, MKTS operates a construction management process that concentrates on delivering clients’ projects from concept to completion, backed up by the technical support from an in-house design team.
The company offers a number of levels of service, from erection of the structural timber frame only to first and second fix stages if requested by the customer.
From supplying high-quality timber to providing full timber-frame systems for new homes, everything is under one roof at the company’s modern, 55,000ft2 factory in East Kilbride. It includes four acres in which to store timber to keep up with the demand for quality timber products.
MKTS prides itself on only using quality materials in the manufacture of its products and with years of experience in the industry behind it, and friendly and helpful staff, customers know they are receiving a timber frame designed and manufactured under strict supervision, to ensure exact requirements are met and the end result is a home built to the highest specification.
The recent huge increase in awareness of environmental issues is nowhere more evident than in the timber industry, with the introduction of certification to ensure that timber and timber products are sourced from reliable and sustainable sources.
MKTS is constantly monitoring its suppliers to ensure it receives only certified timber from properly managed forests. All of its timber is certified through either the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification or Forest Stewardship Council schemes to ensure that customers are provided with a quality certified product. With both schemes the verification system is certified by an independent third party, and MKTS has copies of its suppliers’ certificates which it can make available for inspection if required.
In addition, MKTS’s construction management have committed to the United Kingdom Timber Frame Association (UKTFA) training scheme: a comprehensive training scheme covering all aspects of timber frame construction and especially committed to health and safety.
Reflecting its Scottish heritage, the company is proud to be sponsoring the Robert Burns World Federation Schools Festival in this, the poet’s 250th anniversary, as well as an up-and-coming young practitioner of the country’s national sport – golfer Jenna Wilson.
