Organisation ‘supporting Britain’s bravest’ turns to UNTHA

Britain’s Bravest Manufacturing Company has invested in a new pallet shredder from UNTHA UK, to enhance the team’s production of materials for the biomass industry.

Established in 1919, BBMC – the social enterprise of charity Royal British Legion Industries - has long strived to support the lives of ex-service personnel, but as the years have passed the Aylesford-based company has gone on to also provide employment opportunities to non-veterans including people with disabilities and those out of work. More than 100 such individuals staff the £5m turnover factory* in which a new UNTHA LR1400 has just been commissioned.

O'Donovan Waste are first in sector to achieve ISO 39001 certification, leading the way in road traffic safety

O'Donovan Waste Disposal have achieved another momentous milestone by becoming the first dedicated waste company to receive the ISO 39001 certification from BSI, which evaluates the management system of road safety and that seeks to reduce the number of deaths and serious injuries from traffic accidents.

Already an exemplar haulier through achieving ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and BH OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety), O'Donovan were extremely keen to achieve the certification that sits well alongside its huge focus on road safety that includes the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) gold status which they have achieved for the seventh consecutive year and its status as a Construction Logistics and Community Safety (CLOCS) Champion.

UNTHA invests in new-look shredder test centre

UNTHA UK has revealed its new-look shredder test centre, following a 3-month refurbishment and considerable investment in the facility.

The trial department has long been a popular feature at the shredding specialist’s North Yorkshire headquarters – prospective clients from throughout the country regularly visit the site to put UNTHA’s machines through their paces with their own materials.

The Hull headquartered firm has more than 30 years’ waste management and recycling experience, supporting clients throughout the UK. But with an ever-growing reputation for tackling particularly complex materials, Wastege is increasingly being tasked to handle more unwanted wastes.

Academy gets an education in the benefits of baling

Appleton Academy – an education provider based in Wyke – has recently invested in new waste baling equipment from Riverside Waste Machinery.

As Bradford’s first ‘all-through’ school, the establishment offers learning and development for children and young people from the age of 3 to 19 – and beyond.

The academy receives a wide range of deliveries – most of which are packaged in cardboard boxes – each week. It therefore seemed like the logical conclusion to begin handling the ‘waste’ in a ‘greener’ manner, believed John Wavell, estate manager at the school. And so the search for the right machine began.

Printing company returns to Riverside for baling needs

Flexographic printing company RR Flexo has enhanced its recycling capabilities by further investing in new equipment from Riverside Waste Machinery.

No stranger to baling, the company has recently obtained a brand new RWM 450 HD machine, to deal with the large volumes of polythene waste produced by the firm on a daily basis.

Founded in 1982 by the two main shareholders Ron Dodd and Richard Green – hence the ‘RR’ in their name – the business has gone from strength to strength.

UNTHA XR shredder gears Fortress up for 2018 growth

It’s only three months since the official opening of Fortress Recycling and Resource Management’s new £5m facility in Warwick. But already the team has successfully processed 6250 tonnes of ‘waste’, thanks to an UNTHA XR3000C shredder at the front-end of a sophisticated processing line.

And now, all eyes are on ‘what’s next’ for the system, as the ambitious organisation prepares for 2018 and beyond.

The Dry Mixed Recyclables plant – designed and supplied by Blue Southern – hit the headlines in October, when it was revealed that significant investment and some clever thinking had brought this site to life.
