Combating climate change
Over the past fifteen years, one of the world’s leading lighting manufacturers, Tower Light, has built up an enviable reputation for developing products that combine environment issues with clear, safe lighting on construction sites, highways and outside events. The company recognises the importance of combating climate change and consequently has become the global leader in manufacturing green and environmentally friendly lighting towers, whilst continuing to ensure that site workers or event visitors are provided with a safe setting.
Saving vital natural resources
With the worlds’ environmental organisations continuing to demand severe reductions in pollution and energy usage, Tower Light engineers are continuously and actively researching new processes that will not only provide safe lighting levels, but also offer serious cost benefits for the customer, whilst working towards saving vital natural resources. In addition, pressure is being placed on contractors to minimise day time traffic disruptions, therefore many highway repairs and improvements are being carried out during the night. This is growing demand for powerful, portable lighting systems to help to complete the work safely and satisfactorily.
Efficiency and safety for operators
Tower Light was the first company to introduce the vertical mast system, which immediately improved efficiency and safety for operators - this milestone innovation was formally recognised with a series of industry awards passed to Tower Light for their VT-1 SuperLight product. In quick succession, Tower Light introduced the VT-1-ECO, an environmentally biased lighting unit fitted with auto light sensors which guaranteed that the lamps were only lit when darkness descended - helping to save fuel and manpower.
Reducing fuel usage
In 2011, Tower Light introduced the VB9 lighting tower, immediately reducing fuel usage by a staggering 72%, by simply utilising a smaller diesel engine, combined with a series of electronics that ensured the metal halide lighting output is not compromised and always remained at the HSE recommended levels. The VB9 incorporates a 170-litre capacity fuel tank which renders a running time between refuelling of 340 hours - an increase of a massive 435%. This means that operators of the VB9 are spared from refuelling once week to once a month.
Commercial LED lighting
With innovation the watchword that permeates through the Tower Light team, it is no surprise that the company are set to unveil a new generation in commercial LED lighting. LED lighting has become increasingly popular in domestic and small commercial applications, but to date, no manufacturer has developed a LED lighting tower - until now.
Benefits from using LED
The finishing touches are currently being applied to Tower Light’s VB9-LED, a 9-metre vertical mast lighting tower, in readiness for a formal launch in early 2012. The benefits from using LED lamps rather than traditional metal halide lights are many - starting with a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty and a high resistance to breakage and explosion. The LED lamps are made from robust polycarbonate, with no glass or bulbs to replace, and unlike metal halide, LED lights will restart whilst hot.
The economies of LED lighting
Using a VB9-LED will result in immediate operating savings – just 150 watts of LED power consumption yields an equivalent illumination level of 400 watts of metal halide – include the 70,000 hours of life of a LED lamp against the 6000 hours of a metal halide light and the economies of LED lighting become instantly apparent. Finally, metal halide lighting requires a system of electric ballast fitted into the lighting tower to operate properly. LED lighting completely dispenses with this requirement which means there are no complicated electronics to repair and maintain.
Pioneers in this exciting lighting evolution
“We believe that LED lighting is one of the most important developments in site lighting and we are proud to be the pioneers in this exciting lighting evolution,” said Andrea Fontanella , Tower Light’s production manager. “We already have keen interest in the VB9-LED lighting tower from several leading rental organisations eager to offer cost savings to their clients, whilst helping to preserve the wider environment, we anticipate worldwide interest in our VB9-LED lighting tower”, added Andrea.
