Construction Sector Urged to Sign Up Fast

To Free Professional Services Consultations

The construction sector is being given the unique opportunity to sign up for free one-on-one consultancy sessions with industry leading professional services providers at the upcoming RWM in partnership with CIWM exhibition (Tuesday 13 to Thursday 15 September).

Visitors to the show, which is free to attend, can gain access to expert advice ranging from legal issues to getting the most out of energy from waste. The free consultations are part of the Professional Services Clinic which is new to the exhibition for 2011.

Manx Electricity Authority Launches 'Bogus' Green Tariff

Isle of Man Friends of the Earth has today questioned the authenticity of the Manx Electricity Authority's (MEA) new Green Tariff.  The MEA has said its tariff will deliver customers with '100% renewable energy', but IoM FoE says this claim is 'demonstrably bogus'.

UK Timber Industry returns to growth but isn’t out of the woods, warns TTF

The UK timber industry has experienced growth for the first time in three years, according to a new report by the Timber Trade Federation (TTF). But a sharp rise in running costs and subdued demand sees many companies continuing to struggle.

The TTF Statistical Review 2011 – Industry Facts and Figures reveals a degree of recovery in 2010, with the consumption of timber and panel products reaching a level of more than 14 million cubic metres (m³). The import sector grew by 8.4% in volume, to 8.37 million m³, while UK production increased by 9.2% to 6.45 million m³.  As a result, the industry rose in value by just over 20% to £3.13 billion.

State of the Environment Report for Wales published

Progress is being made in improving the environment in Wales, show new statistics published today (21 July).

The latest figures show that of the 100 indicators that have been defined and where information exists, 47 per cent show an improvement. Only five indicators show a decline. The report shows improvements in many areas across Wales including recycling, bathing water quality and fly tipping.
