One of the largest solar parks in Great Britain has sprung up on Mingay Farm in Cambridgeshire. The British company Solarcentury installed the 14 hectare park with an output of five megawatts.
In the County of Cambridgeshire solar radiation is good, comparable with that in the south of Germany . The 19,960 solar modules installed in the Mingay Farm project generate enough energy to supply up to 1,200 homes and the solar power station will save 55,000 tons of carbon dioxide in 25 years.

High speed rail plans get backing from civil engineering body
The delivery of a High Speed Rail (HSR) network supports a more structured transport strategy for the nation. It will free up capacity on the existing congested rail network and help regenerate and boost the economies of our city-regions, therefore benefitting the UK as a whole, according to the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
In its response to the High Speed Rail: Investing in Britain’s Future consultation – which drew upon the expertise of civil engineers from across the UK - the leading engineering body said it had considered alternatives to the new network carefully, but believed HS2 was more visionary, bringing about a real step change in rail capacity and encouraging long term economic growth.
Green deal: white knight or red herring? Find out at Microgeneration UK 2011

Key questions remain: which technologies? How might Green Deal work with FITs and RHI? How will Green Deal Providers gear up for microgeneration?
Join us to consider these questions during two days of busy and informative conference and discussion at Microgeneration UK 2011, the meeting place for the UK microgeneration sector.
The AGT GSM Temperature Monitor
The AGT GSM Temperature Monitor is a remote controlled device that can monitor temperature and report back by SMS text message or by email. It will respond with the current temperature when sent a text message, and will automatically send warnings when pre-set temperature limits are exceeded.
Also, it has a “Ring Out” mode, where it will dial up to 10 telephone numbers to 'ring the phone' The incoming caller ID tells the receiver that the AGT is calling with a temperature issue. The temperature sensor is digital and operates via a built-in RS232 port, and is supplied with.
