altBarnsley College is offering 100 free places on their Environmental Awareness Training in 2013.

The Level 3 Award in Understanding the Fundamental Principles and Requirements of Environmental Technology Systems is for people with roles that involve the management or specification of environmental technologies, and people who have to inform or advise customers and clients about environmental technologies, their use and benefits.

HE Simm launches new safety initiative

altThe Liverpool-based engineering company is to up-skill its whole UK supply chain as part of a 'passport to work' scheme.

The mechanical, engineering and public health firm will provide subsidised training to almost 100 stakeholder companies to increase on-site health and safety competence.

The 'passport to work' will ensure every operative at HE Simm's MEP projects across the UK will have received IOSH or accredited safety and awareness training.

Sudan, South Sudan teams to join JICA training

altThe official news Agency of Bangladesh (BSS) has issued following news release:

Executives of Sudan and South Sudan arrived here today for a five-day Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) training on "Solid Waste Management in Bangladesh".

Since 2000, Jica has been technically supporting Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on Solid Waste Management from waste collection to land filling as well as environmental education for community resident, a press release said.

Groundwork North East's training services take root

altENVIRONMENTAL charity Groundwork North East has bought a tree nursery to extend its training services to ex-offenders. The social enterprise, which improves the lives of people living across the region, has acquired Butterwick Tree Nursery Community Interest Company, near Sedgefield, County Durham.

The nursery, which sells locally grown and sourced trees, provides training for ex-offenders on behalf of Durham and Tees Valley Probation Service and has been delivering this in conjunction with East Durham College and A4E.

The new collaboration, which will include both University and Envirolink staff working together on the Salford campus, will deliver a range of courses and workshops to help individuals and organisations of all sizes reduce their carbon emissions and energy costs from buildings. The collaboration will also work with companies to upskill the industry and adapt to the fast growing and changing market demands.

Youths Trained On Serengeti Environmental Conservation

altMARA Region is hosting a unique Environmental Education Centre (EEC) tipped to be best environmental training centre for secondary school students across East and Central Africa African states.

Strategically located in western Serengeti, EEC targets secondary students, who come from Serengeti and Bunda districts in the lake zone region. The districts host a large part of the world heritage of Serengeti National Park.

The major aim of EEC, which started accommodating students from the two districts in August 2009 is to impart both theoretical and practical skills on conservation to young men and women pursuing secondary education.

New Online Training Module for Agricultural Advisers

altAgricultural advisers, land agents and agronomists are being encouraged to use the training module as part of their Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The training, developed by campaign partners and the farming industry, provides a convenient tool for advisers to get up to speed and aims to improve conservation advice delivered to farmers.

There are four sections to the online training: one for each campaign themes of farmland birds, farm wildlife and resource protection, plus a general CFE section. Each section ends with five questions and users are expected to take 20-30 minutes in total to complete the training.

National Skills Academy launches trained installer register

altThe National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies has introduced a new register of trained installers which aims to give local authorities and householders confidence when selecting a renewables tradesperson in their area.

All those who train with the Skills Academy are eligible to join the register, enabling installers to promote their accredited skills and qualifications to win new customers and subcontract work.
