In what is reportedly the first of many such schemes, Barnsley College are offering 100 free places on a new Environmental Awareness Training course they are running in 2013! The aim is, of course, to increase awareness and give people who can really make a difference access to the genuine facts and figures, and to encourage them to think environmentally.

The course is a Level 3 Award and comes under the title Understanding the Fundamental Principles and Requirements of Environmental Technology Systems. It is directly aimed at those in management positions or those that work closely with environmental technologies and, whilst these people are likely already to know several important factors associated with environmental procedures, it aims to expand upon the basics and allow them to correctly advise customers and spread the word on the latest environment friendly technology.

From solar thermal hot water, a favourite of ours, to microcombined heat and power, with heat pumps, wind power, hydro power and many covered thoroughly, the range of people that would benefit from the training is truly staggering, and to be offering the information for free is also great!
