Robert James Landscapes, the garden design and construction company, has completed their latest build, an eco-friendly memorial garden which will only allow specially-designed degradable caskets to be used for the interment of cremated remains.
The Foynes Memorial Garden, designed by John Platts Landscape Architects, is part of a three-phase community regeneration project for the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Bicester.
The garden is dominated by an impressive Portland stone semi-circular memorial wall upon which will be engraved the names of those who have been interred. The memorial wall is surrounded by gardens and enclosed within ornate railings and gates, providing a relaxing and contemplative environment for loved ones to remember their departed friends and family.
Ian Picken, Director, Robert James Landscapes, commenting on this latest project, said:
“Environmentally-friendly design and construction has to be at the heart of what we do nowadays. We’ve worked closely with John Platts Landscape Architects and the Archdiocese of Birmingham to create a space which is not only beautiful but entirely functional – there will be enough room for nearly 700 eco-friendly caskets made from wicker, sea grass or cane - providing much-needed space for the community in Bicester.”
