The NHBC Foundation is launching a simple guide to Sustainable Draining Systems (SUDs). Government policies, Sustainable Construction and Future Water, are already in place and combined with the Water Framework Directive, developers are under pressure to prioritise sustainability in the design of drainage systems. This report explains in practical terms how designers, developers, local authorities and property owners can comply with these policies and incorporate SUDs into their housing schemes.
As part of the NHBC Foundation’s remit to provide the industry with useful and relevant guidance, this latest publication explores the concept of SUDs and offers insight into the options available at site control level. It provides the reader with a considered account of the full process of sustainable drainage design, from the ground condition survey, right through to design and implementation.

The NHBC Foundation will be hosting two exclusive workshops on below ground construction, where experts in the field and industry representatives will be invited to discuss SUDs and other issues. These events will be held in London and Manchester on the 23rd and 25th of November respectively.
