The AA is a renowned publisher of atlases and maps, and together with its online Route Planner, helps tens of millions of motorists get to their destinations each year. Now the AA has teamed up with leading online digital map providers, emapsite, to launch the AA Digital Map Shop, offering a range of bespoke digital maps and satellite imagery for personal or business needs.
By simply keying in a postcode, landmark or place name, users can choose from a selection of map styles including detailed Ordnance Survey site mapping and street level data, AA road atlas-style maps, Ordnance Survey 1:50,000 scale countryside maps, Getmapping aerial photography and Cassini historical mapping.
The maps available include OS Detailed Site Map which is a close-up colour image (1:1,250) ideal for presentations or reports showing a building, house or plot in context with its surrounding properties. OS Street Map is designed for use on web and intranet sites. With street names and individual buildings shown, this is an ideal map for a ‘How to Find Us’ section of a brochure or website. This is ideal for estate agents, local businesses and schools as well as for wedding invitations.
The OS Local Map is a digital version of Ordnance Survey’s Landranger paper product at 1:50,000 scale, ideal for an overview of rural areas showing natural features as well as roads, tracks and other details. Cassini Historic Map includes data taken from Cassini Revised New Series (1897 – 1904). The old one-inch mapping has been scanned at high resolution and rescaled to 1:50,000.
AA Road Map is a digital version of the 1:100,000 scale map found in AA’s road atlases with all the features associated with these maps. Finally, Getmapping Aeriel Photography is available at 25cm resolution covering all of England, Wales and parts of Scotland making this an excellent way to provide additional contextual information through a bird’s eye view of a chosen site.
