Trailblazer Jacqueline O'Donovan takes home a Forward Ladies Award

Jacqueline O'Donovan, MD of O'Donovan Waste Disposal added another trophy to her cabinet recently when she was presented with the Mentor of the Year award at the Forward Ladies (FL) Awards in London and the South East. Jacqueline was selected for her track record in mentoring and developing future leaders of the waste, construction and logistics sectors whilst also taking a strong stance on encouraging diversity and inclusion.

UNTHA UK forms new management team

Exactly half-way through its current financial year, industrial shredding specialist UNTHA UK has announced the creation of a new board of directors, as the company looks to solidify its fast growth trajectory ahead of further expansion.

Managing director Marcus Brew (pictured) – who has been at the helm of UNTHA UK since 2016 – is joined by Peter Streinik, director of global strategy. As head of sales and business development for the UNTHA brand worldwide, Austria-headquartered Peter is one of the most senior figureheads within the organisation.

Two industry recruits for UNTHA UK

Industrial shredding specialist UNTHA UK has made two high profile appointments as the business gears up for further growth.

Julian Lamb has joined the company as sales manager, following almost 20 years spent working in the waste sector. Most recently employed by Eggersmann, he has held sales roles with a number of high-profile global machinery providers throughout his career, and will now assist with the growing volume of technical enquiries coming into UNTHA UK’s headquarters.

Macclesfield-based Tidy Planet expands into Scandinavia

Tidy Planet has expanded into Scandinavia, appointing Norwegian waste management firm Berekraft for Alle as the company’s latest distribution partner.

Translated into English as ‘sustainability for all,’ Berekraft for Alle is a start-up company on Norway’s west coast, which specialises in the procurement of equipment for water purification, waste vacuum transport and composting. The move represents Tidy Planet’s first commercial collaboration in this area of Northern Europe.

UNTHA appoints industry stalwart as Director of Global Business Development

Industrial shredding specialist UNTHA has appointed Briton Gary Moore as Director of Global Business Development.

The Austrian-headquartered firm has made the strategic decision ahead of 25% projected worldwide growth, over the next 12 months.

Currently Sales Director of UNTHA UK – a position he will maintain – Gary has played an instrumental role in developing the UK business by 50% during 2018. But 2019 looks set to be even bigger with 12 Waste to Energy shredding solution sales already secured in the first four months of the year. An exclusive distributor agreement for the XR mobil-e shredder range is soon to be announced, sales of parts and other UNTHA service products are up by 40%, and two further sales appointments are also imminent as the team looks to expand.

Putting the health back into health and safety

Research by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) – Waste Statistics in the UK 2018, found that workers in the waste sector statistically suffered more from work-related ill-health than other workers across all industries. Dynamo assists staff in maintaining positive health and wellbeing by teaching self-awareness techniques and the tools to manage a range of negative emotions including anxiety. The programme includes interactive ongoing training modules for all staff which is delivered in-house. The training increases the ability of participants to maintain their composure and stabilise emotions as they face day-to-day challenges in their work and private lives.
