Scottish college rockets food waste recycling rates with second on-site composter

Dundee and Angus College has invested in a second of Tidy Planet’s Rocket Composters for its Arbroath Campus, after successfully composting over 70 tonnes of food waste in the last three years at its Kingsway site.

The College itself spans three campuses – Kingsway, Gardyne and Arbroath – and began its sustainability journey in 2015 when it switched to Vegware compostable catering consumables, in an effort to reduce single-use plastics. This packaging shift drove the College to seek technology that would allow it to introduce a self-directed and closed-loop food waste management solution.

Furniture manufacturer invests in Riverside baler

Eximious Furniture Limited has invested in a new RWM75 waste baler to tackle the amount of waste it produces daily.

Handling three different material streams – cardboard, plastic and metal paint tins – this vertical compact baling press from Riverside Waste Machinery is significantly reducing the volume of unwanted packaging held in the company’s 1700 sq.m factory.

UNTHA’s latest engineering feat creates waves in Europe

The newest engineering development released by UNTHA Shredding Technology has started to take Europe by storm, with 10 units of sales recorded in less than six months.

The X-Cutter (XC) system for the XR waste shredder was first revealed at the IFAT event in Munich, this May. Designed to achieve the next generation of performance for single-step SRF shredding – or provide a direct replacement for existing high-speed shredders – it can transform varied input wastes ranging from waste wood through to pulper ropes.

M&M Waste Solutions has sights on recycling boost with UNTHA shredder

Oxfordshire-based M&M Waste Solutions looks set to boost its recycling recovery rates in 2019, thanks to the installation of a new UNTHA shredder.

The 46-year-old business is a well-known name in the resource sector, with a history spanning coal distribution, skip hire and – most recently – end-to-end waste collection, management and treatment, at the firm’s MRF in Cassington.

Now handling 150,000 tonnes of materials each year M&M sought to further boost its approach to recycling as it looks to the future.
