Scotland’s Enterprise, Energy & Tourism Minister, Jim Mather MSP saw the green shoots of manufacturing recently as he toured the Ecodan® air source heat pump production line at the Mitsubishi Electric factory in Livingston.

Ecodan is an award-winning, low carbon way of heating homes that can also cut fuel bills by up to 30 per cent over gas, so it is being used as part of the Scottish Government’s Energy Assistance Package, which aims to help people who are struggling with rising fuel bills.

Livingston MSP Angela Constance also took part in the tour which looked at the £2.5m investment that the manufacturer has made over the past year to bring production of the renewable heating system to Scotland.

“Both the Minister and Angela Constance were impressed with our careful plans for growth, with the ability to increase production and therefore jobs as the market for sustainable products increases,” explained Akio Fukushima, President of Mitsubishi Electric Air Conditioning Systems Europe Ltd.
