Bachy Soletanche commences £360k waste facility job in Oldham

Geotechnical specialists, Bachy Soletanche, has started work on a £360,000 piling project for Costain for its client, Viridor Laing (Greater Manchester) Ltd as part of the Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority’s Recycling and Waste Contract, to construct the retaining walls and bearing piles for a new recycling and waste facility on Arkwright Street in Oldham. The 5 week project uses CFA piling to provide the foundation system for the retaining walls.

It comes at a time when waste facilities are being rolled out throughout the Greater Manchester conurbation to provide residents with state of the art recycling and waste treatment facilities.

Paul Hodgson, Business Development Manager at Bachy Soletanche said:

“We’re working in a mixture of urban and green field environments at the minute, and this is the second project in the last month that has seen us working on the construction of a waste facility. Because this is a relatively short job, we’ve had to choose the most effective techniques, in terms of time and cost, to use to get the job done as efficiently as possible, whilst also keeping disruption levels to a minimum.”
