Countryside Council for Wales reappoints three council members

Dr Susan Gubbay, Andy Middleton and Lynnette Thomas have been reappointed as council members for the Countryside Council for Wales, Environment Minister Jane Davidson announced today (8 December).

 

The Countryside Council for Wales is an Assembly Government sponsored body. It is an advisor on sustaining natural beauty, wildlife and the opportunity for outdoor enjoyment in the countryside.

Their term of appointment is for three years beginning on the 1 January 2011 and their annual remuneration will be £8,460.  None of them hold any other Ministerial public appointments.

Minister Jane Davidson said: “I am delighted that all three members have accepted my offer of reappointment. Their experience and commitment will be invaluable for the future as we reshape environmental delivery in Wales“.

Dr Susan Gubbay’s specialist interest is marine protected areas and marine spatial planning. She is a freelance marine consultant and has worked on projects for the public sector, private sector, and non-governmental organisations on marine ecology, marine conservation and coastal management. 

Andy Middleton is the founder director of the TYF Group. He works in education, leadership and innovation for climate change and sustainability. Mr Middleton is co-curator of the Do Lectures and Hay on Earth Sustainability Seminars, and is developing the Biomimicry Innovation Centre in collaboration with colleagues from across the UK and the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew.

Lynnette Thomas is director of operations for the Centre for the Development and Evaluation of Complex Interventions for Public Health Improvement (DECIPHer), a UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) Public Health Research Centre of Excellence based at Cardiff University. She is also a member of Glas Cymru.
