Insulslab SFRC, the super insulated and fully integrated foundation system, has been underpinned with increased sales and technical support following the appointment of Steve Secker and Ben Taylor to the business development team.
Joining Insulslab SFRC in January 2011, Secker and Taylor are responsible for driving system specifications at design stage and managing projects through to on-site technical assistance. Providing nationwide coverage, the addition of Secker and Taylor will enable Insulslab SFRC to maintain and improve service levels as demand for the thermally superior system increases in line with revised Part L standards.
As a registered SAP Assessor with NHER, Secker will lead in supporting national and regional housebuilders to achieve Part L compliance using Insulslab SFRC. Having undertaken various technical roles with leading insulation manufacturers during his 20 year career in construction materials, Secker comments on his move: “Insulslab SFRC is an exciting product and I am very much looking forward to using my technical skills, specifically with the housebuilders where SAP calculations will be a key requirement.”
Having joined the SIG Group from Saint Gobain 12 years ago, Taylor has extensive experience within the construction materials supply industry. Taylor has worked with Insulslab SFRC as a part of his role as Business Development Manger for SIG Insulations since the launch of the system and is now focussing solely on this area of business. Taylor explains: “At a time when the demands of legislation are driving changes within the construction industry, Insulslab represents an exciting opportunity for SIG to be at the forefront of providing innovative solutions to meet the industry’s needs. Changes to Part L and the Code for Sustainable Homes require developers to look for a modern, cost effective approach to providing an effective building fabric; Insulslab SFRC delivers on both cost and thermal performance.”
Insulslab SFRC is constructed of interlocking expanded polystyrene (EPS) pods, which are laid in place to form a substantially rigid ‘waffle’ shaped slab. The system is completed with steel fibre reinforced concrete (SFRC) being poured on top to deliver the foundation up to ground floor slab level.
By integrating insulation into system design, Insulslab SFRC delivers thermal insulation superior to traditional constructions, without the need to increase floor depth. Moreover, the installation method of Insulslab SFRC is greatly simplified as it requires minimal ground excavation and no trenches, which saves time on-site, reduces the amount of spoil to manage and removes the health and safety risk of trench collapse.
