Funding secured, now Hub must push on

HBF has welcomed today’s announcement that funding for the Zero Carbon Hub has been secured for another year. But whilst commending the Hub on the progress that has been made, it stressed the importance of the Hub taking the lead in the further work needed to find practical ways that will allow the industry to deliver low and zero carbon homes.

HBF executive chairman Stewart Baseley, in his role as joint chair of the Zero Carbon Task Force has just completed a review of the Hub’s work. It involved speaking to representatives from all interested parties including Government, Local Authorities, house builders, energy providers and construction products manufacturers.

The results from the review were overwhelmingly positive and are a clear vindication for continued funding of the Hub given the future role seen for it.

Speaking today, Baseley said; ‘I am delighted the Hub has been able to secure future funding and fully support the work it is doing. The review I have just completed clearly demonstrates its effectiveness. It has achieved a great deal in the short time it has been established. However, there is much still to be done. The Hub must now take the lead and pull all parties together such that we can progress towards a realistic, practical and affordable implementation of this challenging objective – one that doesn’t detract from housing delivery.”
