Convert your vehicle to LPG Autogas and save over 40% on your petrol bills!

What is Autogas

Autogas is the term generally used for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), when it is used for the propulsion of road vehicles.

It is obtained as a by-product of the distillation of oil from crude oil and from "wet" North Sea Gas. It is produced in large quantites, a surplus of approximately 4 million tonnes per annum is currently available form the North Sea. This surplus is forecast to increase over the next 20 years and be sufficient to run over 3 million cars.

When it is pressurised it becomes a liquid and it is in that form that it is pumped into your tank. Compared to petrol, Autogas has a higher octane content (according to the RON method):

  • Super grade petrol is rated at 98 octane
  • Lead free petrol is rated at 95 octane
  • Autogas (LPG) is rated at over 100 octane

Walk or cycle down any city street and your eyes, nose and lungs will, perhaps, give you a better indication of pollution than statistics. Diesel and petrol engine pollution is a problem that concerns everyone and is a priority for government legislation.

Calls from environmental pressure groups and the public are on the increase. By the end of the year 2000 Emission Standard Euro III will bring even stricter legislation into force than the limits already set by Euro I and II As the Minister for Transport warned recently "We can improve the quality of life and reduce the health hazards from road traffic in the UK by using clean fuelled vehicles. Its an option which is available to us all, and I would encourage all private and public sector operators to look seriously at these vehicles and the role they play..."

Emissions

A vehicle running on Autogas will comfortably pass all present and anticipated future legislation. The initial cost of installation can be quickly recouped, and in terms of customer goodwill the affects are considerable.

Conversion

The costs are dependant on many factors, tank size, location, and complexity of system required for the vehicle to be adapted.

Over the years we have been able to analyse the costs associated with vehicles already converted which kit has suited that particular model the best and the variations of tanks that are best suited to a particular vehicle.

For a typical midrange vehicle doing an average 10-12000 miles per annum we would estimate that the cost of conversion, at less than £2000 plus VAT, would be recovered in 5 - 7 months and thereafter all the cost savings are a bonus.

Autogas is clearly one of the most economical fuels you can use. But its no longer just an issue of costs, with the government imposing anti-pollution legislation that will penalise polluting vehicles, its also important that your car is running as clean as possible.

Driving an LPG vehicle is safe, easy and, best of all, much cheaper than petrol.
